2.12.2017 | Home on the Range

Home in the hill country after a month on the other side of the world in SouthEast Asia. A funny thing happens when you take the leap to explore new lands, you start to view the world with new lenses. Here we are, home on the range, and yet my heart is still viewing life with wanderlust. Papa Buse led an exploration through the scenic Spoke Hollow terrain on a quest for arrow heads (none found just yet but stay tuned). Our caravan inlcuded 7 Buse's and a pack of our most loyal hounds, as we trespassed towards a recently discovered waterwall burried in the deep cedar brush. We watched as water cascaded down the limestone edge into a crystal clear pool which the dogs proceeded to murky as they immediatley plunged in for a swim. We found a mossy green deer antler that looked to have been shed years ago, crossed paths with a creepy crawly scoprion which we picked up by the tail for a closer inspection, and found an abondoned deer blind that we scaled just for the valley views. At one point the two of us were alone except for the donzens of yucca plants and wild birds. In that moment we were in awe of the realization that even the beauty in the far reaches of the world could also be found with the people and places most familiar to us.
